With more than 46 years of living, playing, and working around the water, Coach Tom Grothouse understands the vital importance of water safety and survival swimming skills. A resident of Winter Haven, Florida, and Crown Point, Indiana, Tom and his wife Carol have dedicated their lives to faith, family, and helping others. Before becoming an ISR Certified Instructor, Tom spent over 30 years in the airline and logistics industry and later served in education as an Athletic Director, Coach, and Project Manager.
A lifelong athlete, Tom’s background includes competing in multiple sports at Munster High School, Santa Monica College, and St; Joseph's College culminating with playing within the California Angels organization. Coaching youth baseball, softball, basketball and other sports became a natural progression. Together, Carol, a teacher for nearly 30 years, and Tom, share a deep passion for serving others through Christian ministry and investing in their children and grandchildren. His commitment to faith, family, and safety continues to guide his mission of helping children gain the confidence and skills to survive in and around the water.
Each ISR lesson is custom-tailored to your child, teaching them the self rescue swimming skills that are developmentally appropriate through one-on-one lessons.
Learn MoreDid you know that drowning is the leading cause of death in children under age 5? But it doesn't have to be! ISR teaches each student independent skills in the water so they can swim, float, and self-rescue - building the foundation for a lifetime of safe enjoyment of the water!
